Organising a one-to-one live-in carer for a loved one is a big decision. We can clearly guide you to on what to expect.

work in an organised and structured manner.
At Response Care, every action we take is centred around enhancing the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of the person receiving care. We treat each individual with dignity and compassion, while providing clinically responsible support.
Our carers provide respectful, day-to-day assistance with personal hygiene — including bathing, grooming, and getting dressed. Where needed, they can also help with the application of creams, make-up, or other personal items. Support can also be given for hearing aids, prostheses, and dental devices, depending on your individual needs.
We offer discreet assistance with all aspects of toileting and continence care. This includes support getting to and from the bathroom, as well as using the shower or bath. For those requiring more advanced personal care, our experienced carers are fully trained to provide the necessary level of support.
Carers are on hand to help you move safely around your home, whether that’s walking to different rooms or using mobility aids. Where required, they can operate equipment such as wheelchairs, walking frames, or hoists — always with safety and comfort in mind.
Your carer will support you with planning meals that match your dietary needs and personal preferences. They can help prepare and cook meals, and take care of the food shopping. Please note: if you require PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) feeding, additional arrangements will need to be made separately.
Evening care can include help with getting ready for bed, ensuring comfort, and making sure essentials are within reach. Carers can also assist with disturbances during the night — up to two brief occasions, typically around 15 minutes each. If disturbances occur more frequently, we will help review and put in place a tailored plan of care. In many cases, having a commode nearby can help improve safety and peace of mind overnight.
Creating a clean, safe, and happy home environment is key to living well — and it’s something we take seriously.
Carers will keep living spaces clean and comfortable — including regular tidying, kitchen hygiene, and bathroom cleaning. Laundry is also managed, ensuring fresh clothes, linens, and towels are always available. For deeper cleaning, we recommend using a professional cleaner from time to time, to ensure a high level of hygiene is maintained.
We assist with buying groceries and other everyday essentials, and are happy to run errands as needed, so your household continues to run smoothly.
Carers help manage daily routines and schedules — from healthcare appointments to personal engagements — and can notify family members of any key dates or updates.
Emotional wellbeing matters. Our carers take the time to understand your interests, hobbies, and social needs — encouraging participation in activities, connection with friends, and involvement in community life. From conversation and shared hobbies to attending events or simply enjoying a cup of tea together, companionship is part of the care we deliver. Pet care may also be provided if this is agreed in advance.
In any emergency, the carer will immediately contact the appropriate emergency services, followed by your designated family contact. Whether it’s a fall or a medical concern, they are trained to respond calmly and appropriately to reduce risk of further harm.
To ensure a smooth transition between carers, any essential information will be handed over in person — unless alternative arrangements have been made. This ensures continuity of care and peace of mind for you and your family.
